At the beginning of the semester each student and faculty/staff sponsor must complete a course contract. The contract is due to the TAP administrator by the end of the first week of classes. The course contract will govern the semester's work.
The learning log chronicles the student's experience in the TAP program. Each week students are expected to submit a copy of their log to the TAP administrator. The log must contain a description of the number of instructional and project hours completed, what was accomplished in that time, as well as a short reflection commenting on what they learned that week.
The final project is the culmination of the semester's worth of effort. It should reflect the goals established in the course contract.
The syllabus outlines the weekly discussion topics, readings, guest speakers as well as providing information on grading. For a sample, please see the TAP Handbook.
The handbook states the student and faculty/staff responsibilities. In addition to outlining the program requirements, the handbook also provides: answers to frequently asked questions; guidelines for learning goals, learning logs and the papers; and samples of learning goals and logs. This information packet is a useful resource for students with questions about detailed requirements of the TAP class. For a sample, please see TAP Handbook.
