Assignments
Course Contract
At the beginning of the semester each student and faculty sponsor must complete a course contract. The contract is due to the TAP administrator by the end of the first week of classes. The course contract will govern the semester's work.
Learning Log
The learning log chronicles the student's experience in the TAP program. Each week students are expected to submit a copy of their log to the TAP administrator and their faculty sponsor. The log must contain a description of the number of instructional and project hours completed, what was accomplished in that time, as well as a short reflective essay commenting on what they learned that week. Learning logs should be 1-2 pages double spaced.
Final Project
The final project is the culmination of the semester's worth of effort. It should reflect the goals established in the course contract.
Final Paper
Students must write a final paper, reflecting on their experience in the Technology Assistants Program, describing what they learned, and relating that learning to the core competencies of their school. Final papers must be 7-10 pages long, and students should plan on drawing from their weekly learning logs for information to include in the paper. Students should expect to include appendices as appropriate that illustrate the points of their project that they discuss in the paper.
Syllabus
The syllabus outlines the weekly discussion topics, as well as providing information on grading. For a sample, please see Syllabus Spring 2007.
Handbook
The handbook states the student and faculty responsibilities. In addition to outlining the program requirements, the handbook also provides: answers to frequently asked questions; guidelines for learning goals, learning logs and the final reflection paper; and samples of learning goals and logs. This information packet is a useful resource for students with questions about detailed requirements of the TAP class. For a sample, please see Handbook Spring 2005.
